Increasing Regulations and Increased Responsibilities

In a globalizing world economy, manufacturing and packaging safe food products have taken a central role in effective cost management and legal compliance for import/export companies.

United States Customs & Border Protection (“CBP”), the United States Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) and United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) consider these issues a matter of public safety.

Importers and foreign exporters often times are confronted with situations in which CBP, FDA or USDA place shipments on hold, and the importer of record is forced to research volumes of regulatory material or seek the help of a licensed attorney.

The challenge for today’s importer & exporter is foreseeing compliance issues and taking preventive action to ensure an uninterrupted flow of business.

How Can We Help?

Our standby counsel service will provide your company with personalized compliance assistance to your compliance staff and management teams. This service is offered on an “as-need-basis” to facilitate the flow of business at an hourly rate unmatched by our competitors. Our services include:

  • Trademark Registration
  • Trade/Distribution Agreements
  • HTS Classification & Ruling requests
  • Developing trade compliance procedures and manuals
  • Export licensing and O.F.A.C. regulatory guidance
  • Product licensing and facility registration; and Internal audits

Standby counsel will assist in any of these areas or simply offer guidance to the compliance staff on issues of legal interpretation and construction. This service offers your company the competitive advantages of having in-house counsel for a fraction of the overhead cost!

Affordability and Predictability

Standby counsel can give importers and outside exporters the legal counseling they need at a price they can afford. This method of human resource management helps create an efficient and predictable business model based on the number of hours per month in which legal assistance is requested.

Thus a company expecting to need 20 hours of assistance per month will pay a monthly retainer based on 20 hours work at a reduced hourly rate. Any hours actually required over the 20 estimated hours will be billed at our standard hourly rate.

Adjustments to the monthly retainer calculation may be made on a periodic basis. Any fee based service will carry with it a corresponding one-time payment.

Companies benefit from this service by gaining compliance knowledge and tactics at a very reasonable hourly rate with predictable monthly costs that will make budgeting easy. We are able to provide services in Arabic, English and Spanish.
